The Mansion sits just on the edge of town and has been run as a guesthouse for nearly 50 years, we are Ian and Nav and we are the latest custodians of this local landmark. The Mansion was originally built around 1770 and belonged to the Wordsworth family, being the home for a while to the famous William Wordsworth.

We believe in a relaxed friendly ethos, and we will go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and relaxed. We are dog friendly, and dogs are allowed in most parts of the house.

The Mansion sits on the seaward side of the valley that runs between Whitehaven and St Bees, this gives us one of the best views over Whitehaven and the Western fells of the Lake District National Park. There are various walks in to town that can take from 25 minutes to an hour depending on which route you choose. As we are just over a mile out of town we don't suffer from noise pollution, the only thing that can be heard at night are the owls hunting around us. We have plenty of parking and can even accommodate larger vehicles or those with trailers.
